Our process

Usability

Because software should just work.

Silverpond uses a methodology known as Agile Development. The very name suggests that we’re quick on our feet and responsive to change--and that’s exactly right.

We work closely with our clients to make sure that our software is doing exactly what you need, and want, it to do every step of the way. It’s sort of like how chefs regularly check their simmering piece de resistance before serving it up: we want to ensure from the get-go that you’re getting what you ordered. Here’s an overview of our process:

Meeting your makers

There’s no speed-dating here. Before starting on the technical side of things, we’ll take some time to get to know you, the way you work, and what you need from us. Some of the key topics we’ll touch upon include your vision and audience, your goals, your required time-frame, what you want to get out of your working relationship with Silverpond and, of course, which footy team you follow.

Jotting it down

Once we know where we want to go, we can start looking for the yellow brick road that will take us there. We’ll use informal chats, brainstorming and wire-frames to help flesh out how the system will be laid out and how its various components will interact. Keeping in touch during this “storyboarding” stage is essential for ensuring that everyone is on board about what’s being built.

Organising the project

As part of the storyboarding process we'll make a list of every possible action or functionality required for a given screen. These actions are called stories, and form the basis of how a system will work. We’ll use these stories to guide each step of our development, and as a way to estimate the costs, development time and coffee consumption involved in each stage of the development process.

Under development

Once the storyboard is done and dusted we’ll adjourn to our dark studio with enough Pepsi and pizza to feed an army, and will set to work on transforming those stories into a functional web application. We live by the motto “test early, and test often”, and will check in with you regularly to show you what’s been achieved. These meetings are also a great opportunity to discuss with us any changes or improvements that can be integrated on the fly.
